The Software Test Engineering Intern will be assigned to a functional Team Manager and an internship mentor or co-mentors. Work performed will be hands on, may contribute to a project as a whole, but does not directly impact the outcome. At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a clear understanding of how their studies directly contribute to their course of study and/or the medical device industry. This is a part-time summer internship position, working with the Research & Development Department at Kestra.

Requirements

  • 2nd year or higher undergraduate at an accredited university pursuing an undergraduate degree with a focus in Software Engineering or a related field
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must complete a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations
  • Must complete a pre-internship drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • 3rd year or higher undergraduate in Software Engineering degree
  • Experience with Software Test and equipment
  • Knowledgeable in Machine Learning, LLMs, and/or AI agent frameworks
  • Experience implementing AI-driven automation within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with Linux Operating System

Responsibilities

  • A defined project will be assigned for completion over the internship term. The project topic will be related to improving test development, execution, and/or requirement tracing processes using AI tools
  • Responsibilities will include creating a plan/schedule, completing basic research into our system, developing, and working with software/testing. The outputs will include a detailed report and presentation. A project mentor will be assigned to help provide guidance and conduct regular check-in meetings (1:1’s).
  • At internship end, this role will write a report and present the internship project results and findings to the engineering team and executives
