About The Position

Level I software test engineers are expected to understand the specifications and schedules under which software projects operate. They must work efficiently with the testing group to execute test plans by writing and maintaining test cases, executing test cases, and reporting defects through the defect tracking system. Engineers are expected to check in their test case documents and test code to source control on a regular basis, with regular review by the project team or assigned mentor. They should work actively with their teams to move software through the Quality System, and regularly report progress on assigned tasks. On the project team, they must work towards a fundamental understanding of their assigned software project and accompanying test case solution, with the ability to reproduce software workflows and functionality.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Scientific or Mathematical field. For non-technical BS degrees, a MS of science in Computer Science, Engineering, Scientific or Mathematical field is acceptable.
  • Experience with software test engineering or programming
  • Experience with Windows OS, source code, defect tracking, and build systems experience preferred
  • Technical learning aptitude to quickly understand and acquire new technical knowledge and skills.
  • Flexibility, being highly adaptable and resilient to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Manage and meet competing deadlines, requiring careful prioritization and time management to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
  • Practicing time management to allocate tasks, balance priorities, and meet deadlines efficiently
  • Troubleshooting issues to identify and resolve problems efficiently
  • Ability to cooperate with others at all levels including leadership

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  • Understand the bioMérieux Molecular R&D technical mission, values, and core technologies.
  • Read and interpret software specifications and develop test cases against those specifications.
  • Write, maintain, and execute test cases according to the Quality System.
  • Use the bioMérieux software products during development for the purpose of discovering defects.
  • Ensure, whenever possible, that software defects that are discovered can be reproduced.
  • Ensure the proper documentation of software defects through the defect tracking system used by bioMérieux.
  • Complete projects on time with some supervision from the test manager.
  • Continually update technical knowledge and skills.
  • Participate effectively in technical reviews as both a reviewer and reviewee.
  • Foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment.
  • Determine whether software is in compliance with specifications.
  • Assess issues of usability that may not be covered by specifications, adjusting test case coverage to alleviate future risk.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
