This is a senior systems-level engineering and architecture role focused on controlling hardware, acquiring and analyzing large volumes of data, and eventually enabling microsecond-scale decision-making. You will design and lead implementation for our core software stack. You’ll work directly with physicists and hardware engineers to design our core software stack, and refine your designs using real workloads as our machines come online. You’ll build: Hardware Control Interfaces: Software layers that communicate with cameras, data acquisition systems, and other electronic devices. You’ll design clean abstractions so we can swap hardware components without rewriting the whole stack. High-Throughput Data Acquisition & Storage: Systems to ingest and archive multiple terabytes per day of diagnostic and camera data, with pipelines for both real-time and offline analysis. Low-Latency Distributed Systems: Infrastructure capable of dispatching commands to hardware with low-latency (sub-100 μsec) performance across a distributed system.
