About The Position

The Software Safety Engineering Manager will lead a high-performing team to support the Precision Fires program in Huntsville, AL. This role involves managing software safety tasks, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with established safety standards in an Agile development environment. The manager will oversee the development and review of software system safety documents and ensure that safety requirements are integrated throughout the software life cycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related technical field with nine years of experience, or fifteen years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one; US citizenship required.
• Experience in System Engineering Analysis, System Safety Analysis, Risk Management, and Hazard Analysis.
• Knowledge of government safety standards and regulations (JSSSEH, MIL-STD 882, etc.).
• Experience with weapons systems or complex mechanical/software systems.
• Ability to prepare and present technical reports.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with DoD weapons systems or platforms.
• Knowledge of DOORS or equivalent tools.
• Experience with C++ code development.
• Experience in an Agile software development environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team in software safety analysis for weapons systems.
• Coordinate with customer System Safety for technical data development and delivery.
• Ensure safety requirements are incorporated into software products throughout all life cycle phases.
• Document safety hazards in a Hazard Tracking System with mitigations and risk assessments.
• Perform ongoing functional hazard analyses and assign safety attributes to functions.
• Track, prioritize, and resolve safety-related trouble reports.
