We are searching for motivated and talented Software Engineer join our Comprehensive Software Solutions (CSS) Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. CSS applies a wide variety of software concepts, techniques, and languages to solve challenging problems for ARL’s sponsors as well as internally for ARL needs. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply. You will: Work closely with a team to develop applications to best fit project needs Maintain version tracking and code documentation Support field testing – to include remote or in person troubleshooting of software system Rigorously test application and write unit tests, if required for project

  • Programming in C/C++, C#, Java, or Python

  • Bachelor's Degree - Engineering or Science
  • 2+ years of relevant experience (for Intermediate Professional)
  • No prior relevant work experience required (for Professional)
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply.
  • Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
  • All positions at ARL require candidates to possess the ability to obtain a government security clearance
  • A degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Embedded software development
  • Graphical user interface development
  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the TS/SCI level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
