About The Position

As a Software Engineering Automated Test Intern at Cohu, you’ll be part of our Software System Testing and Quality Assurance (SQA) team, helping build and improve automated software tests used across our product environment. You’ll work with tool simulators that model Cohu’s test handlers and assist in ensuring our software meets high quality standards. This is a great opportunity for college students who want hands‑on experience in software testing, automation, and working with real engineering teams.

Requirements

• Coursework or project experience with C# or C++ in a Visual Studio environment.
• Basic understanding of object‑oriented programming and software development concepts.
• Willingness to learn, experiment, and try different coding and design approaches.
• Strong attention to detail and solid problem‑solving skills.
• General familiarity with Windows OS and tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to write clear documentation and communicate technical findings.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to writing software requirements, test cases, or verification steps (coursework or project experience welcome).
• Interest in or experience with systems that interface with hardware or machines.
• Familiarity with source control tools such as Git.

Responsibilities

• Help develop and maintain automated test scripts for Cohu’s test handler simulators.
• Collaborate with engineers to understand system requirements and testing goals.
• Assist in debugging and analyzing software behavior.
• Document test results and contribute to discussions on software quality improvements.
