Customs and Border Protection's Unmanned Aircraft System (CBP UAS) Program Office currently uses a customized software program, known as Customs Automated Inventory and Maintenance Tracking System (CAMITS), to track maintenance related information for vessels and the MQ-9 Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). This position is specifically focused on updates of the core software to meet specific mission needs of the UAS Program Office. This position will work closely with the primary CAMITS software programming team whose focus is maintenance and management of the core CAMITS CBP marine vessel maintenance tracking programs. This position will work closely with the UAS Program Office to provide recommended updates to the CAMITS software to meet maintenance management needs of the UAS Program Office. Work will be conducted on site at the CBP National Marine Center in St. Augustine, FL. Role and Responsibilities This position performs programmer and user support for UAS automated inventory, maintenance, and procurement data systems • Perform programming to troubleshoot and maintain system functionality • Integrate new functionality into existing applications • Create and publish technical diagrams to support coding efforts • Confirm program operation by conducting tests; modifying program sequence and/or codes • Knowledge of the Customs Automated Material and Inventory Tracking System (CAMITS) is desired • This position requires strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills • Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to clients and other users • Through requirement elicitation, the position requires the ability to interpret problems and provide technical support for various hardware, software, and systems • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills are necessary to accomplish project support and to respond to inquiries from the client organizations' computer users • Running automatic diagnostics programs to resolve problems and finding a solution. Installing, modifying, cleaning, and repairing computer hardware and software on regular intervals are required to maintain system efficiency • Writing training manuals and training computer users in how to use new computer hardware and software; overseeing the daily performance of the client's computer systems and evaluating how useful software programs are; assistance with software applications is provided to improve the workflow process and increase efficiency • Recommendations are made to decrease organizational waste and eliminate cost inefficiencies • Respond to telephone calls and e-mail messages from client organizations looking for help with computer problems; in responding to these inquiries, careful attention and listening skills are necessary, as well, asking questions to diagnose the nature of the problem, and then patiently walking the user through the problem-solving steps • The qualified personnel will be assisting, as the help desk expert, the CBP AMO UAS PMO/NASOCs in the utilization of CAMITS
