We are looking for a Software Manager with defense experience to join our Advanced Products and Solutions (APS) team at Raytheon in Fort Wayne IN. This position is responsible for managing the engineering development of software solutions for the Advanced Product and Solutions (APS) area within Raytheon. The role involves leading a diverse team of engineers, driving innovative solutions, and ensuring the successful execution of advanced technology programs.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience.
• Experience managing multiple software programs or development tasks while meeting cost and schedule objectives.
• Demonstrated experience across all phases of software product development.
• Experience with software systems, architectures, and development processes.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Strong background in Agile development concepts and DevOps practices for automated build/test/release pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with modern software development tools and configuration management systems, such as GIT or Subversion.
• Familiarity with advanced software architectures, including cloud-based solutions, real-time systems, and embedded software.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a technical team, make sound decisions, and accurately forecast project work and costs.
• Knowledge of advanced product areas such as open architectures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, or mission-critical systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, organize, and develop a team of software engineers in the Advanced Product and Solutions group.
• Conduct performance reviews, salary planning, and overall personnel development to ensure team growth and alignment with organizational goals.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative environment to drive advanced product development.
• Drive the development of innovative software solutions, leveraging emerging technologies to meet mission-critical needs.
• Guide the team in adopting modern software development practices, including Agile and DevOps methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with Raytheon’s process and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Deliver projects aligned to cost, schedule, and quality requirements while adhering to organizational methodologies.
• Develop the team through training programs and skill-building initiatives, ensuring alignment with advanced product needs.
• Stay informed of emerging technologies in the APS domain and implement strategies to maintain the team's technical edge.
