About The Position

Do you want to design and write software that really matters and be a part of a cause greater than yourself? Then, help us protect those that protect us by developing Next Generation Electronic Systems Products and Solutions. We need your talent, motivation, and vision as a Software Engineering Intern to join our Long Island team. We are actively seeking college students who are pursuing a software-related degree and have a passion for learning new things who can apply her/his skills to developing high-quality, real-time embedded software for fielded electronics platforms. BAE Systems in Greenlawn, NY has recently been awarded new programs and is currently undergoing an exciting period of growth. When you become a member of our team, you will work across multiple disciplines and collaborate with Systems, Hardware and Test Engineers to impact all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other scientific degree with strong software content.
  • Completed Junior year of college by Summer 2026
  • Strong problem-solving skills that translate to working, maintainable software.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Secret clearance in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency in a high level software language such as Java, C++, C, or Python
  • Coursework or other experience in embedded software development.
  • Working knowledge of software tools such as Jira, BitBucket, debuggers, containers, etc.
  • Experience with Agile Development and DevSecOps
  • Experience using git or another version control system
  • Experience developing on Windows/Linux Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with Unit Testing frameworks
