Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – DoD SkillBridge Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. Through this program, the service-member will work on site with their host company, gaining experience in an entry to mid-level career path. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program. Goals – Provide separating service-members with job skills training in a professional setting during the final phase of their military service. This program is specifically designed to offer hands-on experience that result in the potential to convert to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Participants will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC. Objectives - Service Members who complete the DoD SkillBridge program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides comprehensive hands-on experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities. Outcome – Offer service-members preparing for civilian careers a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field) with 10 years of computer experience, or a master’s degree in computer science or comparable technical area with 5 years of computer experience
  • Two years of experience in classroom instruction (full or part time) at a work-site, high school, or college level
  • Knowledge of curriculum design using methodologies such as ADDIE
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen
  • Working knowledge in two of the following languages: C++, C, Java, HTML/XML, Fortran
  • Working knowledge of Linux Operating Systems such as Redhat or AlmaLinux
  • Working knowledge of command line tools such as editors, compilers, and shell language
  • Expert knowledge of structured programming techniques
  • Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies

Nice To Haves

  • Military or civilian experience with Command and Control systems
  • Experience with development of programs with graphical user interfaces
  • Experience with migration and update of large scale systems
  • Industry certifications such as A+, Network+, Linux+/LPI/RHEL certified engineer
  • Experience with virtualization software configuration and support
  • Certified Military (Navy, Army, USAF) Instructor with programming experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop a series of courses covering the design, programming, and maintenance of the Northrop Grumman Corporation Command and Control software
  • Train customer/students to identify, troubleshoot, and remediate software issues with large scale software system
  • Work with software programmers and test and integration teams to design, code, test and integrate software updates to the Northrop Grumman Corporation Command and Control Center operational software in order to gain proficiency to train students
  • Communicate project status to the Training IPT Lead on a regular basis
