About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, focused on space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit. As a key player, you will be responsible for creating a groundbreaking software simulation testbed, taking ownership of planning, architectural design, requirements gathering, certification, and implementation. Your expertise will be vital in owning development and planning of simulation models and test scripts, contributing to critical work performed by development and testing teams. You will develop sophisticated simulation models that precisely reflect scenarios and craft detailed test scripts to guarantee integration and test events. Collaboration with teammates and customers will be essential to capture requirements for a comprehensive testbed for the Blue Ring Spacecraft, supporting a wide range of development and operational activities. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and requires dedicated commitment to safe and reliable spaceflight. We seek someone with technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight, with a passion for Blue Origin's mission and vision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Over 5 years of relevant proven expertise in developing software simulation testbeds for innovative systems
  • Proficient in C / C++ development with a strong technical prowess
  • Skilled in Python or similar scripting languages
  • In-depth knowledge of real-time operating systems and embedded control systems, including APIs, interfaces, and device drivers
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as UDP/TCP, I2C, UART, etc.
  • Exceptionally organized great teammate with stellar written and verbal communication skills
  • Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years in large-scale engineering systems
  • Skilled in vehicle software simulation integration
  • Proficient with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization
  • Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines, Git, GitLab, or GitHub
  • Strong debugging at the software-hardware interface
  • Familiar with hardware emulation like Simics
  • Expertise in customizing continuous integration systems
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic engineering concepts
  • Solid grasp of IP networking
  • Competent in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Acquainted with GNC systems and 6DOF dynamics
  • Proficient with DOORs Next Generation, SVN, Jenkins
  • Active Top Secret/SCI
