About the position

The Software Engineering Tech Lead will play a crucial role in a healthcare analytics software company focused on Medicaid data. This position involves leading the development of backend systems that process and analyze essential data, ensuring the creation of scalable and high-performance platforms. The role requires collaboration with various engineering teams to integrate services and advocate for security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in the platform engineering team in developing distributed systems for backend data processing.
• Build high-performance, scalable platforms using Java.
• Design and implement systems that generate SQL for efficient data handling.
• Collaborate closely with other engineering teams to integrate data and platform services.
• Be the internal advocate for the implementation of security best practices, including authentication and data governance/management.

Requirements

• Back-end Java experience is essential.
• Experience in building large-scale, distributed platforms that are centered on backend data and infrastructure.
• Excellent understanding of systems infrastructure, version control (Git/Bitbucket), and security (authentication mechanisms).
• Knowledge of SQL, ideally in writing programs that generate SQL rather than writing SQL directly.
• A good understanding of database systems such as Vertica and PostgreSQL.
• Commercial experience with web authentication systems, with a focus on security.

Nice-to-haves

• Kafka for data streaming.
• Experience with deployment in Linux environments.
• Elasticsearch w/ unstructured data.
