About The Position

At Lockheed Martin, our Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) National Team (C2NT) is pioneering the development and integration of cutting-edge technologies to advance the Missile Defense System, safeguarding the United States and its allies. Our collaborative and agile organization operates in a fast-paced environment, driving innovation through tasks such as sensor/weapon integration, algorithm development, user interface development, automated testing, cyber security, enterprise/infrastructure services, and enhancing leading-edge missile defense technologies. The Work The Software Engineering Team Lead will direct a high‑performing group of 5‑15 engineers in designing, building, and operating software solutions that overcome program infrastructure challenges and boost the throughput of the Agile Release Train (ART). You will drive end‑to-end delivery of Python, Java, and Ansible‑based applications while championing modern DevOps practices—Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing. Operating in an Agile Scrum (SAFe) environment, you’ll coordinate work across multiple projects, ensure strict adherence to the full software development lifecycle, and maintain engineering standards and contractual compliance. Regular interaction with customers will be required to refine requirements, present technical solutions, and keep projects aligned with program objectives, cost, schedule, and risk constraints. Together, this national team supports the design, development, test, integration and fielding of hardware and software elements that enable the Missile Defense System (MDS) to function effectively and continually. You will also have the opportunity to interface with our key customers in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) . C2BMC|Lockheed Martin Who You Are You are a technically savvy leader with at least five years of software‑engineering experience and a proven track record of guiding high‑performing teams to deliver complex, mission‑critical solutions. Your strong communication skills enable you to translate technical concepts for both technical and non‑technical audiences, while your hands‑on expertise in Python, Java, Ansible, CI/CD, and IaC lets you make informed design decisions. You thrive in Agile environments, excel at project‑ and risk‑management, and consistently drive engineering excellence, standardization, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance (U.S. citizen with a valid passport)
  • Software‑engineering experience, with a background in full‑stack or DevOps development.
  • Active 8140‑compliant certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP) or must be able to obtain it within 30 days of starting.
  • Active project‑management certification (e.g., Project+, CAPM, PMP) or must be able to obtain it within 60 days of starting.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams (5‑15 members) and deliver complex technical projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Hands‑on development experience in Python, Java, or similar programming languages, with demonstrable expertise in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; capable of communicating technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and interfacing directly with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Top‑Secret clearance is a plus.
  • Prior role as Team Lead, Technical Lead, or Product Owner in an Agile setting.
  • Experience defining, tracking, and reporting KPIs and engineering metrics.
  • Quick learner with the ability to evaluate and adopt new technologies.
  • Experience scaling CI/CD pipelines and IaC in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with cloud or hybrid infrastructures (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (automated testing, configuration management, containerization).
  • Proven ability to present to senior stakeholders or external customers.
  • Track record of improving team processes, engineering standards, or Agile maturity.
  • Prior experience with C2BMC or similar command‑and‑control systems.
