Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech The Manager Software Engineering - GUI plays a key role in leading the development of the multiple graphical user interfaces used in robotic surgery. They will understand the system from both a technical perspective and the user’s viewpoint, and guide their team in the design and development of the GUI applications that ultimately enable surgeons on a next-generation surgical robotic system to provide better patient outcomes. We will set a new industry benchmark for robotic surgical capability. We are looking for a candidate who can lead, mentor, and motivate their team to successful product delivery. The candidate is flexible, self-motivated, curious and passionate about revolutionizing the world of medical robotics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years of professional experience managing software teams
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing software products
  • Minimum 5 years of Object-Oriented development
  • Strong understanding of software design/architecture and hardware integration
  • Experience with Unit testing and software Verification and Validation processes
  • Collaborative teammate with excellent written and in-person communication skills
  • Proven leadership and collaboration working in distributed environments and teams
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years technical experience working in GUI development
  • Proficiency with multi-threaded applications
  • Experience developing C++ for multi-target applications (Qt and Linux)
  • Experience with UI/UX development for natural interfaces
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of hardworking engineers focused on providing GUI applications for a surgical robotics application
  • Contribute to the software architecture design to enable future enhancements and iterative releases
  • Contribute to process improvements and collaborations to improve productivity and ensure compliance
  • Work with software, robotics, User Experience (UX), and other specialists (clinical, system engineering, instruments, integration, human factors, labeling) as part of a focused multi-functional team developing the user interfaces for surgical robotics
  • Interact with the User Experience, Clinical Engineering, System Engineering, Product Marketing, and Program Management teams to define requirements and validate features
  • Collaborate with internal and external third-party companies from both business and technical perspectives
  • Support C++ software development, design discussion, and code reviews where appropriate
  • Identify, manage and mitigate technical and project risk through coordination with teams in R&D and external collaborators
