About The Position

Amazon’s Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is looking for a Software Engineering Manager for one of our infrastructure team that manages EKS compute products including EKS Auto and EKS worker node AMI. We have an ambitious road-map that seeks to redefine how our customers build their applications and run them at scale on AWS and Kubernetes. Amazon EKS allows our customers to use Kubernetes at scale without the undifferentiated heavy lifting required to manage Kubernetes. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of AWS by providing the best possible experience for customers using Kubernetes. We are growing fast and we are expanding our team to help build additional features for our customers. This is a great time to join a growing team and help influence what we can do for customers who are adopting Kubernetes as a cornerstone in their AWS strategy. As a leader of the EKS compute and runtime team you will be responsible for building and owning core services responsible for EKS products including EKS Auto and EKS Hybrid. The teams charter is to manage Kubernetes worker nodes and related software components that help monitor and repair nodes. It is a critical team that helps manage AI/ML workload infrastructure. Your team will build solutions to ensure the safety and stability of software the team operates, integrate with other AWS services with an eye towards simple and streamlined interfaces. You will own staffing and managing the engineering team, product development, setting the team culture, best practices, and organizational planning. The successful candidate will be able to deal with ambiguity and will need to think big. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the potential of cloud computing, and about building simple and elegant software solutions and customer-centric products. This leader has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The candidate is a leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong team. AWS in general, and this business in particular, operates at very large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must.
