About The Position

This role leads and inspires high-performing engineering teams responsible for delivering scalable, cloud-native healthcare data solutions. The manager will drive people leadership, technical strategy, and operational excellence while partnering closely with Product, Tech Leads, and cross-functional teams. This role balances executing the product roadmap with managing technical debt, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring experience scaling engineering teams in early-to-mid-stage startups, a strong hands-on technical background, and a passion for building reliable, secure, and compliant systems. This position offers the opportunity to shape technical direction, mentor top-tier engineers, and contribute to solutions that enable secure and efficient healthcare data interoperability. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills are critical to success.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering management experience in cloud-native, data-intensive, or SaaS environments
  • Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams in early-to-mid-stage startups
  • Hands-on software engineering background, able to contribute to technical discussions and trade-offs
  • Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code frameworks (AWS, serverless, containers, IaC)
  • Experience building platform services, data ingestion pipelines, or large-scale data processing systems
  • Knowledge of secure SDLC and DevSecOps best practices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills for cross-functional teamwork

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, including performance management, coaching, and career growth
  • Hire, onboard, and retain exceptional engineering talent, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define roadmaps, OKRs, and delivery priorities
  • Drive continuous improvement of Agile practices, delivery processes, and engineering metrics such as code quality and technical debt
  • Participate in architectural decisions and provide technical direction for scalable, cloud-native systems
  • Ensure systems are reliable, observable, secure, and cost-efficient while meeting compliance standards
  • Partner cross-functionally to align technical strategies with business goals, compliance, and product requirements
