As a Software Engineering Manager, Senior within PNC's Workforce Identity Engineering organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Cleveland, OH. This position is not available in all geographic areas. The Privileged Access Engineering Manager leads a team responsible for delivering enterprise privileged access management (PAM) capabilities that protect critical systems while enabling secure administrative and application access. This role is accountable for building and shaping a high performing engineering team, setting technical direction within the PAM domain, and ensuring reliable, risk aligned delivery of privileged access services. While familiarity with CyberArk or PAM platforms is valuable, success in this role depends primarily on strong technical leadership, people management, and the ability to mature a growing engineering capability. Manage a group of software engineers/managers across multiple product lines. Oversee the talent management of engineering talent, including recruiting, mentoring, and enabling a culture of learning with a focus on engineering craftsmanship. Foster technological innovation, ensuring adoption of current trends, capabilities, and practices emerging in the market. Encourage sound technology choices are made and drive innovative technology architecture and solution design. Identify issues, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Proven experience leading and developing technical teams in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical foundation enabling effective leadership of engineers working on security, identity, or other mission critical platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to build or reshape teams, set direction, and improve delivery maturity.
  • Experience managing operationally critical systems, including balancing delivery, reliability, and risk.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Privileged Access Management concepts or platforms (e.g., CyberArk, PAM tooling).

  • Background in scaling or modernizing platform based engineering teams.
  • Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and develop a PAM engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
  • Establish a strong team culture focused on accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop engineers through mentoring, clear expectations, and growth opportunities aligned to both individual and organizational needs.
  • Create clarity of roles and responsibilities as the team scales or evolves.
  • Own delivery and operational health of privileged access services, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security of PAM platforms.
  • Guide technical direction within the Privileged Access domain, balancing near term delivery with longer term platform and capability improvements.
  • Partner with senior engineers to review designs, prioritize technical work, and address systemic risks or recurring issues.
  • Ensure appropriate operational coverage, incident readiness, and post incident learning.
  • Translate enterprise identity, security, and risk requirements into actionable engineering priorities for the team.
  • Partner closely with product, risk, audit, and technology stakeholders to align PAM capabilities with business and regulatory needs.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with leadership on roadmap, risks, dependencies, and delivery progress.
  • Represent the Privileged Access engineering function in cross team planning and decision making forums.
  • Manage a group of software engineers/managers across multiple product lines.
