About The Position

The Software Engineering LMTS position at Salesforce involves working within the Ingress Gateway team to develop scalable and distributed load balancing and gateway services. This role focuses on providing declarative interfaces for load balancing, TLS termination, and encryption, while leading technical efforts and ensuring high-quality production support. The position also includes mentoring junior team members and participating in the hiring process.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Networking, Engineering, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• Six months of experience in the job offered or in a related field.
• Experience with Distributed Systems or Scalable, Fault-Tolerant Distributed Systems.
• Knowledge of IPv6, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Software Load Balancing, NGINX, and TCP/IP.
• Experience with TLS termination and proxy caching.

Responsibilities

• Build highly scalable and distributed load balancing and gateway services to manage customer and internal traffic.
• Provide simple declarative interfaces for L4/L7 load balancing, TLS termination, and end-to-end encryption.
• Lead the technical work for the team, including writing design specifications and test plans.
• Exhibit ownership for all aspects of features from requirements analysis to production support.
• Lead root cause analysis of production incidents related to load balancing and gateway services.
• Ensure telemetry is implemented and leverage it for controlled deployment of new functionality.
• Develop Service Level Indicators and Service Level Objectives and participate in their implementation.
• Provide technical coaching to junior team members through pair-programming and reviews.
• Assist with hiring and conduct interviews for new candidates.
