About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to support the Social Security Administration's Digital Modernization Strategy. This role involves contributing to the development of next-generation enterprise APIs and modern user interfaces, impacting millions of American lives. The intern will work within a collaborative team environment focused on innovation and technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Understanding of Java programming language and its constructs such as collections, streams, and threads.
  • Familiarity with Spring/Spring Boot or other dependency injection frameworks.
  • Experience with JUnit, Mockito, Rest Assured, or other Java testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of RESTful API design principles and HTTP web service patterns.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with frameworks such as AngularJS, jQuery, ReactJS, or Express/Node.js.
  • Familiarity with Git, Maven, and other development tools.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Passion for expanding coding skills.
  • Experience with modern software development tools like CI/CD, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience with libraries for file format conversion such as Apache POI, iText, or PDFBox.
  • Tableau or reporting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical tasks including software development, technical analysis, debugging, and testing.
  • Attend team meetings and agile ceremonies, participating in the software engineering lifecycle.
  • Analyze and improve code, participating in the code peer review process to ensure software quality.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and SSA leaders during meetings and discussions.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
