About The Position

The Software Engineering Intern supports the development and maintenance of healthcare SaaS applications through supervised coding, testing, and debugging. The intern collaborates with cross-functional partners (engineering, QA, product, and clinical stakeholders as applicable) to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant software solutions and gains exposure to AI-enhanced features and modern cloud development practices.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, graduating December 2026 or later.
  • Academic, internship, or project experience in software development (coursework, capstone, personal projects, or prior internship).

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in healthcare technology and/or AI-related technologies is a plus
  • Programming Languages: C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Angular and TypeScript a plus)
  • Cloud Platform Exposure: Familiarity with AWS or Azure (coursework/labs acceptable); certification is a plus.
  • Healthcare Standards: Basic awareness of HIPAA, HL7, FHIR (not required; willingness to learn is sufficient).
  • Version Control & Collaboration Tools: Git/GitHub; familiarity with Jira or similar tools
  • Agile Development: Exposure to Agile/Scrum concepts or working on a team project using agile practices

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing and maintaining software features under guidance from senior engineers
  • Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews as part of the learning process
  • Apply foundational object-oriented programming concepts and software design patterns in assigned tasks
  • Support development tasks that may include cloud-based components and SaaS application patterns
  • Gain exposure to CI/CD concepts and tooling, including build/release pipelines and basic containerization workflows
  • Follow secure coding practices and team standards for handling sensitive data
  • Build awareness of healthcare privacy concepts (e.g., HIPAA) and interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) as relevant to assigned work
  • Develop foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts and how AI-enhanced features may be integrated into software products
  • Support tasks that may include data preparation, model integration support, or feature-level validation for AI-enabled capabilities (as applicable)
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retros) as a learning experience
  • Communicate progress, ask questions early, and collaborate effectively with peers and mentors
  • Contribute to documentation (technical notes, implementation details, or runbooks) as assigned
