Brief Role DescriptionElectrify America’s 10–week Summer Internship Program targets undergraduate students entering their Junior or Senior years who are eager to acquire practical, real-world experience in the automotive industry. Focused on the development of professional and technical competencies as well as on-the-job training, our Summer Internship Program is an excellent opportunity to explore career choices early on. Please note, we are not able to consider OPT/CPT candidates.Possible Tasks within this RoleRole Summary: The Software Engineer Intern will support the Energy Controls project. They will assist in development of control algorithms and interfaces, and provide test support for all functions. The Energy Controls team is a small, passionate group of individuals. Most of the team is on-site in Ashburn, VA, but we also have members remote. The Intern will directly support development activities that will ultimately be deployed to production charging sites.

Requirements

  • Controls development
  • Basic electrical architecture and networking principles
  • API development
  • Basic control theory as it may relate to charging systems including DC Fast Chargers, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and other on-site peripherals
  • Experience with Python, Embedded Linux, Modbus TCP and AWS IoT Core will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • The Software Engineer Intern will support the Energy Controls project.
  • They will assist in development of control algorithms and interfaces, and provide test support for all functions.
  • Intern will also support build out of diagnostic dashboards to monitor charger and controller performance in Grafana
