Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The community you will join: Airbnb is excited to welcome Software Engineering Interns for our 2026 Summer Intern Program. At Airbnb, our Engineering team brings our vision to life by building technology that fosters connection, belonging, and innovation across both tech and travel. As a Software Engineering Intern, you’ll be welcomed into a fast-moving, supportive community. You’ll work on meaningful, end-to-end projects aligned with your technical interests and goals. Your manager, teammates, and the broader employee community will strive to be Superhosts, providing mentorship, guidance, and a sense of belonging as you gain real-world experience and make a genuine impact on Airbnb’s products. Examples of past intern projects includes: Developed the backend and user interface for personalized Airbnb gift cards. Built new functionalities for Airbnb reviews to help users search and summarize listing feedback. Designed an intuitive message thread interface to help hosts manage conversations more efficiently. The difference you will make: As an intern, you’ll experience what it’s like to be a Software Engineering partner at Airbnb. You’ll have the opportunity to: Own and drive a capstone project from beginning to end. Collaborate with teammates from diverse backgrounds to achieve project milestones. Communicate regularly with your team and stakeholders to provide updates. Proactively seek and incorporate feedback throughout your internship. Help shape the future of connection, belonging, and travel through technology. A typical day: During the 12-week internship, you’ll be integrated into a team and contribute to challenging projects that make a real impact. We offer the support, mentorship, fun, and hands-on experience you need to accelerate your learning. You can expect to: Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team meetings. Write, test, and debug code to support your capstone project. Learn from peers and mentors across the Engineering organization. Participate in intern programming, workshops, and community events. Share your unique ideas and perspective—your voice is valued here. Important Note: Our 2026 Summer Intern Program design is still being finalized as we aim to create meaningful connection and community. As plans evolve, there may be in-person elements hosted at our San Francisco office, and we will share details well in advance if applicable.
