About The Position

Leadership and project management of the FSW team in support of the CPS FSW manager Accountability for the technical, cost, and schedule aspects and ultimate completion of the flight software deliverables to support CPS and its flight test events Providing direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget Coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions Manages software development activities. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the design, development, documentation, and testing of software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Ensures software standards are met. Provides direct supervision to non-exempt and entry-level exempt employees or subordinate supervisors. Acts as a guide and may become actively involved to meet schedules and resolve problems. Collaborates internally with subordinates and managers at equivalent or slightly higher levels. Works on issues requiring the analysis of data and relevant factors. Directs daily operations of a section and provides assistance to subordinates as needed. May participate in the daily tasks of supervised group. Responsible for managing and coordinating the efforts of their team, ensuring efficient workflow, providing guidance and support, and achieving collective goals. Decisions are long-lasting and heavily impact the organization. Engages with senior personnel on significant matters.

Requirements

  • Technical background in software engineering including in-depth experience with Agile methodology
  • C/C++ development experience
  • Experience with software planning and execution throughout the requirements, development, design, build, test, and integration phases of a mid-size to large program
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and build effective relationships
  • Ability to develop and create solutions to difficult problems often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, incomplete data on a fast paced schedule
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team based environment
  • Successful candidate must demonstrate Full Spectrum Leadership experience including a commitment to the Full Spectrum attributes of shaping the future, building effective relationships, energizing the team, delivering results, and modeling personal excellence, integrity and accountability

Nice To Haves

  • Agile/SAFe Software Development certification
  • Experience or classroom knowledge with embedded software/hardware
  • Experience with developing or integrating in an real time operating system (RTOS) such as VxWorks or GreenHills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical and leadership experience within AMD, Strike Weapon, or other large scale weapon systems
