Come be a part of Red Hat's charge to democratize AI with open source! Red Hat's Global Engineering Team is looking for a Software Engineer to join our newly formed AI Engineering organization. This role will be located within the AI Innovation team, which conducts customer- and science-driven research to drive innovation for Red Hat's customers. The team focuses on a pattern of "research → open-source software → product" as the way we operate our engineering work. This role will support the implementation of AI/ML solutions on the Red Hat AI platform. In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior team members to implement and test AI platform components. You will assist in the development of features related to agent customization, data processing, and model deployment. You will participate in team sprints, contribute to development tasks, and learn about cutting-edge AI technologies. The ideal candidate will be an eager learner with solid programming fundamentals and interest in AI/ML technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in AI engineering within an open-source environment. Strong collaboration skills and willingness to learn are essential. This position reports to the Manager of AI Innovation. This position may require occasional travel to partner collaboratively in our Boston, MA office. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

  • Implement features and bug fixes for AI platform components
  • Write clean, maintainable code following team standards
  • Develop unit tests and contribute to integration testing
  • Assist in the deployment and monitoring of AI services
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback
  • Learn and apply AI/ML concepts under team guidance
  • Document code and contribute to technical documentation
  • Support senior engineers in research implementation tasks
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and team meetings
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in development and staging environments
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 2+ years of software development experience (or relevant internship experience for new graduates)
  • Proficiency in Python programming
  • Basic understanding of software development best practices
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix environments
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in an agile environment
  • Coursework or projects in machine learning or AI
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes basics)
