Role Software Engineer (Whatnot Inc.; Culver City, CA) (multiple positions): Design and develop software systems and applications to significantly improve the company's top-line metrics. Analyze and design software features based on business metrics collected from buyer and seller experiences. Recommend software upgrades for existing systems. Optimize software for speed and scalability. Develop new and improved features that help new users understand the product, including authentication, activation, email notifications, SEO, and performance marketing. Lead the team in best practices in backend development. Represent the team’s remit to other cross-functional teams to navigate X-team projects and collaboration. Achieve team goals in increasing the number of satisfied buyers and weekly new live sellers (WNLS) on the platform through experimentation and data analysis, while also maintaining seller and GMV retention. Telecommuting permitted from within the U.S.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field, plus five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer or related occupation.
  • Must have experience with the following: building scalable systems using Python, Elixir, or JavaScript; delivering features and shipping products; Python A/B testing for experimentation; SQL for data analysis; monitoring tools for logging and dashboarding; and Backend as a Service (BaaS).
