Software Engineer
About The Position
Maleda Tech is seeking experienced Software Engineers to support a mission-driven nonprofit technology initiative focused on delivering safe housing and crisis response solutions at a global scale. In this role, you will build and enhance scalable web applications that power emergency response programs. You will collaborate closely with product, operations, research, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver flexible, reliable solutions that directly support people in times of need. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 4+ years of professional experience building and delivering web applications
- Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, TypeScript)
- Experience working with distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
- Ability to solve complex problems in ambiguous environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
Nice To Haves
- Experience with GraphQL and modern web technologies
- Experience working in Agile software development environments
- Prior experience in fast-paced, high-growth organizations
- Experience collaborating with design, data science, research, and product teams
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across engineering, product, research, and operations throughout the full product lifecycle
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and backend systems
- Work across distributed systems and contribute to service-oriented architectures
- Analyze data insights and research findings to identify product and system improvements
- Navigate and build context within large, evolving codebases
- Develop solutions to ambiguous and complex technical challenges
- Contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions, and system improvements
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
