We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with a strong background in Linux-based systems programming and deployment. This position involves working on embedded computing systems deployed on marine vessels, where reliability, efficiency, and security are critical. The ideal candidate will be a someone who thrives working close to the system, enjoys optimizing performance, and has a deep understanding of distributed communication and containerized environments.

  • Design, develop, and deploy software systems on embedded Linux devices used in vessel operations.
  • Manage and optimize Linux environments for high availability, security, and performance.
  • Implement and maintain messaging and data communication systems using NATS, MQTT, or similar technologies.
  • Build and manage containerized applications using Docker, with exposure to Kubernetes considered a plus.
  • Perform system-level debugging, network analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure stable deployments.
  • Apply cybersecurity best practices across system configuration, communication protocols, and data handling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate, test, and maintain distributed systems in production environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience working in and managing Linux environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration.
  • Proven understanding of messaging systems such as NATS, MQTT, or similar protocols.
  • Solid background in networking fundamentals, system-level debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated application of cybersecurity best practices in production environments.
  • Experience with GoLang and Kubernetes is a strong plus.
  • Prior work with embedded or edge computing devices is highly desirable.
