As a Software Engineer - Level 3 or Level 4 located in Dulles, VA, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. To be successful, you should enjoy learning and learn quickly, be motivated by the opportunity to solve hard problems with challenging boundary conditions, work well with a motivated and mission-focused team, enjoy working with both speed and accuracy, and take great pride in your work and the work of the team(s). You should have demonstrated experience in technical problem-solving including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring. Software Engineers will be a critical member of one or more Agile Scrum Teams. After hours or extended work-week may be required. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4.

Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications for Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 1 year of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application
  • Familiarity with Agile programs
  • Experience with the design, build, and deployment of software products
  • Experience in producing software documentation
  • Experience with Python application programming
  • Basic Qualifications for Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 8 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 4 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

  • Development of mission unique software layer services and applications.
  • Applications will span languages and toolsets including bash, Python, C++, Postgres SQL, and STOL.
  • Use static code analysis to identify shortfalls and plan remediation activities.
  • Self-starter capable of taking initiative, making decisions with overall project budget and schedule in mind, and investigating/trouble-shooting software issues.
  • Convert legacy python apps from python version 2 to 3.6 and re-architect where appropriate.
  • Provide level of effort (LOE) estimates for identified activities and remediation efforts.
  • Have strong communications skills to work with multi disciplined engineers to design and deliver re-architected existing applications and desired to be applications.
  • Other duties as assigned
