Gecko Robotics’ Manufacturing team is one of its newest and fastest-growing , building robotic and software systems that accelerate American industry and support critical government programs. As a Software Engineer, you will develop field and cloud software that powers robotic systems, process sensor data, and empower decision-making across the industrial base. You will collaborate daily with engineers of all disciplines, in addition to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experts, to help protect critical infrastructure and support national security initiatives. Due to government program requirements, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining production systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar object oriented languages
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Experience designing APIs and interfaces between distributed systems
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own and deliver complex technical projects end-to-end
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams with varied technical backgrounds
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, rapidly evolving environments with dynamic objectives
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to travel periodically to other Gecko offices (including Pittsburgh, New York, and Boston) and to client sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building production systems using Python
  • Experience building frontend applications using React and Typescript (or JavaScript)
  • Experience working with 3D rendering techniques and frameworks
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government or Department of Defense programs
  • Familiarity with industrial inspection or Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) concepts is a plus (not required; Gecko provides domain training)

Responsibilities

  • Build cloud and field applications for use within the Military- Industrial Base
  • Create ontologies representing the digital thread of industrial assets
  • Architect robust interfaces between field and cloud software systems
  • Solve complex deployment problems as we ship software to edge devices around the US
  • Iterate quickly with today’s customers while building for the long run
