The position involves collaborating with a team of software and test engineers to update and migrate legacy software, used for Naval Ship Weapons Direction Systems, into a new hardware environment as part of a naval system mid-life modernization effort. The program for hardware modernization and software migration involves USN work and USN-supported Foreign Military Sales integration efforts. This position requires a proficient knowledge of Ada, a working knowledge of other languages like C and C++, and a familiarity with the VxWorks Operating System (OS) environment. It also requires a demonstrated strong ability to solve complex computer problems, and a good understanding of the interoperability between various elements of a naval defense system. The individual shall be a self-starter that will work independently as well as in a team environment, and provide valuable insights and creative and successful engineering strategies. The candidate will support the rehost of existing computer programs, software update development, problem resolution, software evaluation/analysis, software configuration management, review of software design changes, and will work closely with customers to ensure deliverables meet their expectations and arrive in a timely manner. The candidate will be required to effectively communicate with diverse sets of external engineers to drive the Weapons Direction System (WDS) rehost and development from existing legacy software updates to transition implementation and system of systems integration analysis. Occasional travel will be required to various facilities to participate in system testing.
