About The Position

Intrinsic is Alphabet’s bet aiming to reimagine the potential of industrial robotics. Our team believes that advances in AI, perception and simulation will redefine what’s possible for industrial robotics in the near future – with software and data at the core. Our mission is to make industrial robotics intelligent, accessible, and usable for millions more businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers. We are a dynamic team of engineers, roboticists, designers, and technologists who are passionate about unlocking the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics. Role As a Software Engineer focused on vision-guided robotics, you will build the critical bridges between experimental research and scalable infrastructure. You will identify friction points in the research workflow and engineer robust software solutions, utilities, and dataset tools to remove them. Your work will involve hands-on integration of diverse hardware, including maintaining research prototype workcells comprised of various robots and cameras. By creating scalable infrastructure and accelerating the research loop, you will empower the team to validate and deploy advanced perception capabilities more rapidly. How your work moves the mission forward Develop robust utilities and dataset tools to accelerate the iteration loop for vision-guided robotics research. Identify bottlenecks in engineering and research workflows and implement scalable software solutions to resolve them. Construct and maintain research prototype workcells by integrating different robot arms and camera hardware. Design software infrastructure that supports the collection, management, and processing of large-scale robotics data. Collaborate with researchers to transition experimental workflows into reliable, production-ready engineering systems. Contribute to the architectural design of codebase, ensuring experimental code can be written quickly while keeping a path to modularity, scalability, and production in mind.
