About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. Rackswitch bandwidth provisioning and lifecycle management is a core/critical area in datacenter networking. The charter of the team is cost efficiency, reliability (i.e., minimize network congestion and impact to internal/external users), and application performance. Sub-areas include: rack level job scheduling and optimizing rack switch uplink bandwidth provisioning. Lifecycle management of rack switch deployment, configuration, and decomissioning and infrastructure support for introducing new rackswitch hardware platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with coding in C++.
  • 1 year of experience with distributed computing.
  • 1 year of experience with SQL.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience with data center networking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end projects to support deployment of new rack switch hardware increase rack switch availability.
  • Improve rack switch deployment flexibility, rack switch bandwidth provisioning efficiency.
  • Increase velocity of rack switch deployments, and improve reliability of all rack switch life-cycle workflows.
