The Software Engineer position at Texas McCombs involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions to support the needs of faculty, staff, and students.   • Design, develop, and implement custom applications and solutions to support business processes.
  • Design and architect software applications and services, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and performance using .NET technologies (ASP.NET, .NET Core).
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to best practices in software design patterns.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures for SQL Server, ensuring efficient database design and data modeling.
  • Design user-friendly interfaces and experiences in collaboration with front-end developers using JavaScript and modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Design and run automated data imports, programmatic data mapping, and data transformation in SQL Server or any relational databases using best practices and tools.
  • Work within DevOps to perform hands-on software development and unit testing.
  • Participate in and collaborate with cross-functional teams in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust, scalable software architecture and design solutions.
  • Perform cost analysis and estimates.
  • Lead and participate in the design of system architectures and data flows, ensuring seamless integration between front-end, back-end, and external systems.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in software design, architecture, and development.
  • Perform software unit, integration testing, facilitate user acceptance testing and support production validation.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in software development with expertise in .NET and C#.
  • Strong experience in software application design and architecture, with a proven track record of designing and building scalable, performant applications.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL Server, including data modeling, database design, and query optimization.
  • Expertise in JavaScript and modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
  • Knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • Ability to flourish in a complex environment with numerous stakeholder groups and competing priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, focusing on design challenges, performance optimization, and scalability.
  • Familiarity with design patterns (e.g., MVC, Factory, Singleton) and architectural styles (e.g., layered architecture, event-driven architecture).
  • Experience with application containerization and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with cloud architectures (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with University data workflow and knowledge of business processes.
  • Experience with data-focused applications and projects (ETLs, data warehouses, analytics, etc.).
  • Experience with integrating Salesforce with other systems using APIs.
