As a Software Engineer in Rockford, Illinois, you’ll join a dynamic, innovative agile/scrum team that’s shaping the future of aerospace and defense. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python scripting experience.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with hardware integration and testing environments.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented design principles and software design patterns.
  • Configuration management experience (version control, build systems, etc.).
  • UX design experience (for interface tools and user-facing applications).

Responsibilities

  • Develop modular software applications interfacing with test equipment hardware (including prime mover controllers, load banks, power supplies, discrete/analog I/O, and communication data networks) and integrate them into cohesive systems.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on wiring, hardware configuration, and test stand requirements.
  • Design and implement advanced software tools, supercomputing clusters, and real-time applications for Automatic Test Equipment using Object-Oriented Design, scripting languages (Python, TCL, etc.), and C++.
  • Provide on-site and remote support, including debugging, operating system administration, and computer hardware build-up/teardown, to internal development labs in Rockford, Illinois
  • Lead large software development efforts, managing both technical implementation and financial planning aspects.
  • Develop software for Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Generate and maintain software documentation and manage change requests.
  • Review and update department processes.
