Polaris, a global powersports leader, is seeking a Software Engineer with experience in HMI and embedded systems test automation to join our XIL & Test Automation team . This role focuses on developing and maintaining scalable and robust automated test libraries for the Ride Command in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) display, supporting both sub-system validation and QA teams. The engineer will also maintain and enhance HIL test equipment to ensure robust and efficient validation workflows. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering innovative and intuitive test solutions that directly impact software quality and customer experience. This role may be based out of Wyoming, MN or Plymouth, MN, with regular travel required between both locations.

  • Develop and maintain test automation libraries for IVI validation and QA using ecu.test and Python.
  • Provide technical support documentation for ecu.test users and test libraries.
  • Align library development with long-term validation strategies and stakeholder priorities.
  • Communicate development progress, risks, and timelines effectively.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HIL test equipment (electrical, assembly, harness design, etc.).
  • Develop real-time simulations – integration of basic plant models and rest bus simulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, reliability, and performance.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and deliverables.
  • Occasional test execution when required to support the validation and QA teams.
  • Support of non-IVI HIL test systems and simulations.
  • Other duties as required.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an HMI or embedded software QA/validation role.
  • 1+ years of experience using test automation frameworks (tracetronic ecu.test preferred).
  • 1+ years of professional Python programming experience.
  • 1+ years of experience using Git in a team environment.
  • Familiarity of XIL methodologies (HIL, SIL, MIL) and associated tools (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Vector, tracetronic).
  • Experience with CAN communication protocols, CAN/J1939/UDS preferred.
  • Understanding of vehicle embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with automotive software and test standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASAM XIL API, etc.).
  • Experience using requirements management tools (e.g., PTC RV&S, Codebeamer, Jama, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in HMI test automation.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth, AM/FM, and/or multimedia (audio and video) testing.
  • Experience with the following tools: - tracetronic ecu.test – test automation tool - Vector VT/CANoe/CANalyzer – rest bus and IO simulation - Safran GSG-8/Skydel – GNSS simulation - Analog Devices A2B Analyzer – audio bus simulation
  • Basic understanding of DevOps practices (e.g., CI/CD continuous test).
  • Experience working with Agile teams.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with Ubuntu and/or Yocto Linux desired.
