At PsiQuantum we are developing and testing prototype modules which will scale into a datacenter-sized, fault-tolerant quantum computer. Modules, or subsystems, of this computer are designed to generate entangled states of photons that, when scaled up and networked together, collectively enable quantum error correction and quantum algorithms. The Quantum Systems Validation team is developing and maintaining a set of physical models to represent, characterize, and analyze the performance of our quantum modules. The Software Engineer, Validation Models will be responsible for building and maintaining software infrastructure that enables the team to capture and analyze system performance data. The successful candidate will work closely with validation engineers to create tools that manage data, create abstractions for system hardware, and interface those to physical modelling tools.

  • Design and implement software tools that enable physics model development.
  • Design and implement interfaces between databases and modelling tools to make it easy to apply models to high-volume data captured on large scale tests.
  • Contribute to developing user interfaces and data visualization tools.
  • Contribute to code reviews, pair programming, and mentoring, to promote high-quality, well-documented software from contributors from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Work with validation engineers to develop and maintain hardware abstractions in software.
  • Develop software tools to manage data interfaces between databases and modelling tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of Python including libraries for data analysis, unit testing, and Web APIs.
  • Extensive experience using Git for version control in a collaborative software environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and manage responsibility and ownership for delivering validation objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences including senior leadership and technical experts in different domains.
  • Demonstrated interest in PsiQuantum’s mission and vision for quantum computing, with an ability to contribute within a fast-paced start-up environment consistent with PsiQuantum’s values of communication, collaboration, respect, results, and challenge.
  • Familiarity with quantum physics, quantum computing concepts, photonic integrated circuits, digital electronics, fiber networking, or related domains.
  • Experience with physics modelling.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Python Dash, or JMP.
  • Experience with relational or document-based databases such as: PostgreSQL, SQLite, Mongo, and S3.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.
