About The Position

At FIS, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and relevant issues in financial services and technology. The company values a team that is open, collaborative, entrepreneurial, passionate, and fun. This position is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days onsite in FIS Office locations in Milwaukee (WI), Jacksonville (FL), or Atlanta (GA). Current and future sponsorship are not available for this position. The role is for a skilled and motivated Software Engineer Senior to join the Money Movement Hub team. As a Senior developer, you will be responsible for the support and reliability of a mission-critical payment processing platform hosted on AWS. The role involves full-stack development, covering both front-end and back-end, while driving engineering best practices, CI/CD maturity, and DevOps culture within an agile team environment. This is a hands-on position that requires both deep technical ability and collaborative team guidance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot preferred) and Python in production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience building and operating applications on AWS — familiarity with core services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS, API Gateway, and IAM.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in an enterprise or regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles: automated testing, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and release management.
  • Experience with both front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks) and back-end development.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call production support rotation.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with tools such as Jira.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with payment platforms, real-time payments (RTP), FedNow, or ISO 20022 messaging standards.
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or CloudWatch.
  • AWS Certified Developer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
  • Working knowledge of change management practices and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
  • Prior experience in financial services, banking, or fintech environments.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on full-stack development of the Money Movement Hub application, covering both front-end interfaces and back-end services.
  • Architect and implement scalable, highly available solutions on AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, SQS, API Gateway, and related services).
  • Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices in Java and Python.
  • Own code quality standards — conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Harness, or equivalent).
  • Collaborate with DevOps and cloud infrastructure teams on deployment strategies, environment management, and release automation.
  • Drive shift-left testing initiatives including automated unit, integration, and regression testing.
  • Participate in an on-call production support rotation for the Money Movement Hub platform.
  • Lead incident response efforts: triage, root cause analysis, and post-incident review.
  • Monitor application health using observability tooling (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch) and proactively address performance issues.
  • Ensure high availability and resilience of payment processing flows including RTP and FedNow transactions.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders including DevOps, QA, product, and security teams.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and agile ceremonies as a senior technical voice.
  • Document architecture decisions, runbooks, and operational procedures in Wiki.
  • Identify and advocate for technical improvements, debt reduction, and process maturity initiatives.
