About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer, reporting to the Director of Data Services and Solutions, will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions within the Health Plan of San Joaquin. This critical role requires a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems like QNXT and JIVA, proficiency in web development with .NET, and experience in platforms such as RETOOL for low code/no code development. The Senior Software Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of robust software solutions that support organizational strategic goals. They will drive innovation and continuous improvement in software development practices, ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of software assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Degree or equivalent work experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on healthcare systems.
  • Proficiency in web development using .NET framework, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, and related technologies.
  • Experience with low code/no code development platforms such as RETOOL.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems like QNXT for claims processing and JIVA for utilization management is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including software design, architecture, and scalability.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in production environments.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Valid California license and reliable transportation or, the ability to obtain transportation on demand in the counties served by HPSJ if prohibited from getting a driver license due to a medically documented disability.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, Certified .NET Developer).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and integrating cloud-based services into applications.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA compliance).
  • Experience in designing and implementing secure, scalable APIs for integration with healthcare systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications and solutions tailored to meet the needs of healthcare systems such as QNXT and JIVA.
  • Utilize your expertise in web development, particularly with .NET framework and related technologies, to build secure, efficient, and user-friendly applications.
  • Leverage platforms like RETOOL for rapid application development, focusing on streamlining processes and enhancing productivity.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers, Analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and drive projects from inception to delivery.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, architecture diagrams, and deployment procedures.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends. Drive innovation and advocate for best practices in software engineering within the team.
