About The Position

We are hiring Software Engineers to be involved in development & design of the features for NetApp's flagship storage operating system ONTAP. ONTAP is a feature rich stack with its rich data management capabilities that has tremendous value to our customers and are used in mission critical applications across the world. You will work as part of a team responsible for the development, testing and debugging of distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premises solutions. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, supportability, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development. This is an entry-level technical position that requires an individual to be systems-focused, creative, team-oriented, technologically savvy, able to work in a small and large cross-functional teams, willing to learn and driven to produce results.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with design and development of system software required
  • Hands on experience with C/C++ required
  • Strong conceptual understanding of OS internals, system programming and Kernel Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Kernel Transport Layer Security (KTLS) knowledge and experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Key Manager Software and/or security background preferred
  • Expected to have sound software engineering practices and a passion for quality
  • Must have a proven record of meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Strong communication skills are essential, both written and oral, targeted at a wide variety of internal and external audiences
  • Expected and assumed: independence, drive, motivation, willingness to go above and beyond, flexibility, and cooperative spirit

Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of the team on projects involving automation of new features, sustaining, handling engineering escalations
  • Participate in all phases of product development cycle: from product definition and design, through implementation, debugging, testing and early customer support
  • Work collaboratively with other peer team members and other teams on the product like Development, Systemic Test Engineering, support and other dependent engineering teams to understand customer use cases, deliver solutions and bring in the value from those teams into work done within the team
  • Should be able to work with other engineers and solve technical issues
