About The Position

Binary Defense is seeking a Software Engineer with strong core engineering skills and familiarity with security automation and SOAR-style systems. This role focuses on building production-quality software, services, and integrations that support security operations and customer-facing platforms. Engineers in this role work across multiple areas of the platform - including automation systems, shared services, and MDR platforms - based on team priorities and product needs.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in software engineering, with hands-on experience building and maintaining production systems.
  • Experience delivering features through a full Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Proficiency in Python for backend services, integrations, or automation.
  • Familiarity with security automation concepts, SOAR platforms, or security operations workflows.
  • Experience working with APIs, distributed systems, and version control systems (Git).
  • Experience operating in environments with CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and security teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C# and the .NET / .NET Core / ASP.NET Core ecosystem.
  • Experience contributing to SaaS platforms or customer-facing products.
  • Exposure to SIEM, SOAR, EDR, or security data pipelines.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK or NIST.
  • Experience supporting systems used in operational or 24x7 environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality, scalable software using modern engineering practices.
  • Write clean, well-tested, production-grade code contributing to backend services, APIs, and platform components.
  • Develop and integrate changes across multiple projects to deliver cohesive, end-to-end solutions.
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and deliver timely, effective resolutions.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of security automation workflows and supporting services, including SOAR-style systems.
  • Build and maintain automation logic, integrations, and services—primarily using Python.
  • Collaborate with security and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions.
  • Improve the scalability, maintainability, and effectiveness of detection and response tooling.
  • Partner with Product Management and internal stakeholders to define, estimate, plan, and execute work.
  • Work effectively with distributed teams using agile delivery practices.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes, tooling, and platform reliability.
