As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. Aligns business strategy with software solutions. Proposes, designs & codes software solutions to address complex business needs. Oversees technical and procedural documentation required. Leads complex problem solving. Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development. Displays an innovative approach to apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities. Requirements

  • 5+ years of overall IT experience with strong hands on development background
  • 3+ years in a technical lead or application lead role
  • Proven experience leading applications across UI, API, and data integration layers
  • Front End: Angular (modern versions), TypeScript, HTML, CSS
  • Back End: Java, Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful APIs
  • Data Integration: Informatica PowerCenter and/or IICS (mappings, workflows, scheduling)
  • Databases: Strong SQL skills (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar)
  • DevOps/Tools: Git, CI/CD pipelines, issue tracking (e.g., Jira), logging/monitoring tools
  • Architecture: Layered architecture, API integration, data flows, batch processing
  • Strong ownership mindset and accountability for application outcomes
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments with governance controls
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern deployment models
  • Exposure to security standards, data privacy, and audit expectations
  • Prior experience supporting business critical or customer facing platforms

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of end to end application solutions using Angular, Java, and Informatica.
  • Serve as the technical authority for application architecture, design patterns, and integration approaches.
  • Review and approve technical designs, code changes, and data integration logic to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Guide teams on best practices for performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Hands on development and oversight of: o Angular based UI components and client side architecture o Java back end services, APIs, and business logic o Informatica mappings, workflows, and data pipelines
  • Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of features, enhancements, and defect fixes.
  • Lead Informatica based data integration efforts, including source to target mappings, transformations, and scheduling.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and traceability across systems.
  • Support batch and near real time integrations as required by business use cases.
  • Enforce SDLC standards, including design reviews, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Partner with QA teams to ensure adequate unit, integration, and regression testing.
  • Support audit, risk, and compliance activities by providing documentation and evidence as required.
  • Promote disciplined change management and release practices.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for production issues and incidents.
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive long term fixes to improve platform stability.
  • Monitor application health, performance, and data flows; proactively address risks.
  • Mentor and guide developers, ETL engineers, and junior team members.
  • Provide technical direction during sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate closely with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
