About The Position

Loop is looking for a full-stack Software Engineer. We're searching for a passionate and driven engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute directly to the design, development, and maintenance of our core products. You'll apply your experience to build scalable solutions, improve technical excellence, and serve as a reliable source of knowledge for your peers. At Loop, we’re intentional about the way we work so that we can do our best work. We call this our Blended Working Environment. We work from our HQ in Columbus, OH, or one of our Hub or Secluded locations, and are distributed throughout the United States, select Canadian provinces, and the United Kingdom. For this position, we’re looking for someone to join us in Columbus, OH; New York City, NY; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Austin, TX; or fully remote. While we use certain core technologies at Loop, the exact tech stack each team uses varies. To give you an idea of what you might work with should you join us, here are some examples: PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, MySQL, DynamoDB, Kubernetes, AWS, Serverless. Our hiring process is tech stack agnostic.

Requirements

  • 2-4+ years of experience building web applications, backend services, or APIs using modern tooling.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience building and maintaining production software.
  • You can understand technical decisions and are learning to evaluate trade-offs between different implementation options.
  • You have participated in testing processes on previous teams and care about building reliable, well-tested software.
  • You have worked in environments with continuous integration and deployment and understand the value they bring to teams.
  • You have exposure to test-driven and/or behavior-driven development, or are eager to deepen your skills in these practices.
  • You have worked in an agile development environment and can speak to how you collaborate, plan, and iterate with a team.
  • You can share examples of learning from mistakes, asking for help, and growing through feedback.
  • You’ve worked closely with product managers and design teams, or are excited to deepen that collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PHP / Laravel, AWS Serverless, or Vue.js is a strong plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain web applications, APIs, backend services, and lambdas for the Loop product line, ensuring high-quality code and robust solutions.
  • Solve technical issues for our merchants, partners, and internal teams, with support from more experienced engineers, ensuring an exceptional user experience.
  • Develop automated unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Contribute to maintaining a healthy, continuous integration and deployment process.
  • Participate in discussions around engineering best practices to support effective scaling and long-term system stability.
  • Follow and contribute to technical standards and best practices within the team, improving the overall quality and consistency of the codebase.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative engineering culture at Loop.
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and approaches.
  • Exhibit a growing sense of ownership over your work and its impact, asking questions and seeking feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Take initiative within your scope of work, trying new approaches and helping address problems rather than waiting to be told what to do.
