QinetiQ Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Software (SW) Engineer to support the software integration, quality assurance, delivery, and sustainment of a Counter Unmanned Aerial System (c-UAS) for our Digital Night Vision Technology (DNVT) customer at Fort Belvoir VA. As a key member of the SW team, the ideal candidate will be responsible for applying Agile best practices in the management of a pre-developed, Government Owned Code Base within the Governments GitLab DevOps environment and work with fellow QinetiQ engineers and other Key Stakeholders in supporting the software and technical efforts of our Belvoir customer.

  • Support the integration of additional technologies into the digital c-UAS systems including sensor and effector systems.
  • Support digital c-UAS sensor fusion and sensor/effector capabilities related to algorithm improvements from parsed sensor data.
  • Support enhancements to digital c-UAS Threat prediction capabilities that provide target threat level information to the operator and other components of digital c-UAS systems that consume this information.
  • Support digital c-UAS Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) user interface enhancement.
  • Providing support to on site and remote data collection, testing, and demonstration events.
  • Support the Agile release of SW updates.
  • Provide virtual and/or on-site troubleshooting and technical assistance to ensure digital c-UAS system functionality or to integrate additional digital c-UAS system components.
  • BS degree in an engineering discipline or Computer Science or 5+ years of equivalent experience in either Software Engineering or experience with data fusion and state estimation, including Kalman filter, SLAM, and signal processing.
  • Experience in design, integration, and test of multiple sensor inputs.
  • Live in the National Capital Region and work on site 5 days a weeks at the customer site on Fort Belvoir VA or at the QinetiQ office in Lorton, VA.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Experience supporting MLOps, DevOps, or application development roles with experience with developing in Python, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with system integration using a variety of protocols, including JSON, REST, and XML.
  • Experience with sensor integration ranging from optics sensors such as EO/IR, SWIR, and MWIR to active and passive radars.
  • Experience with natural language processing, deep learning, or computer vision project work.
  • Experience with Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK).
  • Experience with DHS, DoD, c-UAS or UAS programs.
