The Waymo Logs Storage team owns the infrastructure for storing driven and simulated data of Waymo cars. In this Hybrid role you will report to the Tech Lead Manager.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems.
  • 4+ years of experience with C++.
  • Proven track record of driving collaboration effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong ability to document technical designs, processes, and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience building large scale storage systems.
  • 3+ years of experience building dataset management infrastructure.
  • Track record of successfully executing forward looking ambitious bets.
  • Track record of high coding productivity

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm, design and build new storage infrastructure features, in alignment with Waymo business priorities.
  • Build and leverage relationships with partner teams to deliver solutions spanning organizational boundaries.
  • Understand and improve the behavior of production systems, including instrumentation, bug fixes, provisioning, and reliability improvements.
  • Improve the automation, code health, technical debt and simplify the system.
  • Provide support for partners and clients.
  • Responsible for overall storage cost. This includes tooling required for data curation, plus defining and implementing storage cost control policies spanning multiple Waymo teams.
