Department Overview Motorola's Access Control Division's mission is to improve your workday with smart office technology at your front door. We are looking for candidates who can help us build, scale and innovate as we develop our industry leading platform for access control and office automation. Strong analytical and software skills are a must in order to join our team, and we are particularly seeking candidates with experience and skills in multiple technologies, in order to contribute broadly to our team-centric approach to product development. Job Description We are looking for someone to help us grow the infrastructure to seamlessly support the business and its growing customer base. Engineers, customers, and end-users will all be affected by solutions developed by our team. It’s a full stack on a small team with big company support. An ideal candidate will be passionate about problem solving, will look to automation to address issues, and will ultimately envision solutions to the next level.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in cloud operations, specifically with AWS.
  • Previous experience working with Software and QA Test Engineering groups and within a SLDC.
  • Proficiency in Python and Node.js for scripting and application development.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CI, AWS CodePipeline).
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and additional scripting languages is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree or with 1+ years of technical experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and additional scripting languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Tool Development and Improvement: Architect, build, and maintain internal tools, platforms, and services that enable scalable management of deployment domains.
  • Work with Development and QA to improve and automate processes that currently hinder productivity.
  • Automation: Analyze existing operational procedures (deployment, configuration, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, etc.) and apply them to a complex multi-environment setting looking to improve speed, consistency, and reduce manual work.
  • Reliability Engineering: Apply SRE principles to ensure high availability, performance, and recoverability of our core services. This includes building better alerting, monitoring, and self-healing capabilities.
  • Security and Compliance: Integrate security best practices directly into operations tools and workflows to ensure all environments meet security and compliance standards consistently and automatically.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software development, DevOps, and Release Management teams to understand their operational needs and deliver solutions that streamline their workflows and free up their time for core development.
  • Scripting and Development: Write and maintain scripts and applications in Python and Node.js to automate processes and enhance cloud operations.
