This job posting will remain open until the position is filled. Markon is seeking a Software Engineer Level 2 to design, develop, and sustain mission-critical software systems for our Fort Meade Customer. This role requires deep expertise in Java-based development, distributed processing, and cloud technologies to support high-performance, scalable solutions within complex operational environments.

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based software applications supporting mission requirements.
  • Develop and optimize distributed processing solutions, including MapReduce-based workflows.
  • Support cloud-based architectures, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Integrate and maintain systems leveraging GhostMachine and QTA technologies.
  • Analyze system and user requirements to derive effective software solutions.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software issues across development and production environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust system design and operational effectiveness.
  • Contribute to and uphold software development best practices, standards, and documentation.
  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor's degree with 14+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Java development.
  • Experience with MapReduce and large-scale data processing frameworks.
  • Experience supporting cloud environments and architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with GhostMachine and QTA.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and enterprise integration.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD systems.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, performance tuning, and high-throughput environments.
  • Experience working in classified or mission-critical environments.
