As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers' high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.

Requirements

  • Good exposure to C/C++ programming
  • Practical experience in developing real-time software
  • Software engineering principles
  • Experience in programming SW that interfaces with hardware components or machine control SW
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or related field, computer science, information management, software/system engineering, cyber security or mathematics
  • 7–10 years of related experience

Nice To Haves

  • C# (.net) programing experience
  • Problem Solving Solves problems in straightforward situations and analyses possible solutions with technical experience and judgement
  • Extensive experience with project management and the Applied Materials product development life cycle
  • Leadership skills to lead moderate-sized projects as needed

Responsibilities

  • Developing code and documentation for moderate difficult software projects
  • Troubleshoots a variety of moderately difficult software problems
  • Interfacing with internal customers for requirements analysis and schedule
  • Performing software tests on code and enhancements
  • Interfacing with external customers regarding software issues
  • Compiling data for regularly scheduled or special reports, analysis and statements
