About The Position

We're looking for a Senior-Level Design Systems Engineer who can bridge the gap between design intent and technical reality. Someone who is passionate about transforming design decisions into codified standards and empowers teams to build consistent, accessible experiences at scale. You excel in UI and accessible design, prefer working directly in-browser, and get excited about emerging CSS properties. This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering, requiring both strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate closely with designers. You'll be instrumental in maintaining and evolving our design system, establishing Figma-to-code parity, and training other designers and engineers in these best practices. You will partner with stakeholders along the entire design-engineering pipeline to implement a mature design system that scales

Requirements

  • 7+ years in front-end development or design engineering roles
  • Worked previously as a Designer or has extensive experience embedded in design systems
  • Proven track record taking components and design tokens from Figma or other design tools into production code and keeping them in sync over time
  • Experience rolling out design system updates to multiple teams and supporting adoption
  • Comfortable operating in engineering workflows (version control, PRs/MRs, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Figma+ modern front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/React/Vue)
  • Due to the nature of our work, it is mandatory that you are a U.S. Citizen and able to comply with Government regulations
  • Successfully complete background check and maintain a valid USA driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design system governance at enterprise scale
  • Familiarity with design system tooling (Storybook, Chromatic, token management platforms)
  • Experience building internal tooling to improve design-engineering collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and evolve the design and development of Beast Code’s design system and standards, working alongside contributing engineers, architects, and quality engineering
  • Establish and maintain Figma-to-code parity, ensuring design specs translate accurately into production
  • Define and document component anatomy, variants, states, and behaviors
  • Collaborate with and support designers to evolve our long-term product vision, design systems, and internal design collaboration process
  • Unblock product teams during system adoption
  • Write clear, rollout-ready documentation that helps teams implement the system correctly
  • Champion accessibility across all components, ensuring WCAG compliance in real products
  • Serve as a mentor for designers who want to develop stronger technical skills around implementation
  • Create opportunities to align engineering teams on design system practices, resources, and updates
  • Lead knowledge sharing efforts and being an advocate for the design system with internal and external engineers
