Software Engineer, Investment Systems Engineering
About The Position
The Investment Technology department is an internal software engineering organization whose mission is to provide and expand the technical capabilities that drive our systematic investment process. As an active manager, Arrowstreet seeks to design investment portfolios that will, in expectation, outperform their respective benchmarks on a risk-adjusted basis. To do so, the firm relies on a large set of proprietary systems and applications that provide our investment teams with powerful capabilities to conduct research for alpha generation, to implement investment strategies efficiently, to accurately manage our client accounts, and to provide in-depth analysis and reporting of our investment performance to our investors. Technology is integral to our long-term success, and outstanding engineering talent is essential to the firm’s ability to meet its investment performance and fiduciary goals. We think that powerful software capabilities are critical for the firm to maintain and enhance its competitive advantage, so we look out for strong, motivated and collaborative technologists who are passionate about building production-quality solutions using modern technology. The position is part of a team responsible for designing and implementing software platforms for hosting micro services, event-driven real-time communication between components, as well as a common web platform for micro front ends. A successful candidate must be passionate about technology and understand software design patterns. They should be self-motivated, process-driven and a problem solver. This role will be responsible for designing software solutions which take complex investment ideas and bring them to life. Collaboration with other software development leads and teams is a critical part of the success in this particular role.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience using Python or another object-oriented language
- Ability to write elegant code, and comfortable with picking up new technologies
- At least 3 years of experience building resilient CI/CD pipelines, strong knowledge of Git, and familiarity with a DevOps platform
- At least 2 years of experience with Cloud, preferably AWS
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience working with message / event-based architectures
- Great communication, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated experience interacting and solving problems with users
- Maturity, accountability, and ownership of projects/tasks
- Good collaboration with other teams within IT and a mindset for solutions that leverages a common foundation and development principles
Nice To Haves
- Experience with automated testing frameworks
- Platform Engineering or Composable Application experience would be a plus
- Cloud Certification at developer or solution architect level would be a plus
