Who we are looking for: ASCO’s Information Technology Department is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to collaborate within a fast-paced, agile environment and gain knowledge of Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure services and environments, and the skills required to create solutions in these environments. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience writing software, preferably Python
  • Familiarity with git, bonus for GitHub
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs
  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism
  • Willingness to enhance skills

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with ASCO software architects on creating an ergonomic software development environment
  • Work with Cloud Infrastructure team on tracking and controlling software development costs
  • Learn and contribute to ASCO’s larger software development process, including agile ceremonies, code reviews, ticket grooming, daily standup and similar
  • Use git, GitHub, and GitHub Copilot, and Terraform in daily duties; and to enhance skills in the standard tools of modern software development
  • Collaborate with Data Product Engineers on a data set for daily use in software development
